Timothy 1:3 – As
I urged you when I went into Macedonia – remain on Ephesus that you may
charge some that they teach no other doctrine… 1
Timothy 1:3 – On
my way to the province of Macedonia, I advised you to stay in Ephesus. Well, I
haven’t changed my mind. Stay right there on top of things so that the
teaching stays on track. 1
Timothy 1:18 – This
charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made
concerning you, that by them you may wage good warfare, 1
Timothy 1:19 – having
faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith
have suffered shipwreck, 1

they [the ships] commonly run aground; they hit a reef or rocks, and they are
severely damaged and torn open. And then they fall in shallow water and then for
centuries and in some cases millenniums, storms continue to pound on them, and
they get rather obliterated by time, and then they're commonly discovered by
divers who loot them, or fishermen that loot them.”

Ballard “If
we disregard the voice of conscience, allowing sin to remain unconfessed and
unforsaken, our faith will not long survive.”

Timothy 1:15 – Be
diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 1
Timothy 1:16 –
But shun profane and vain babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. 1
Timothy 1:17 – And
their message will spread like cancer. Hymenaeus and Philetus are of this sort, 1

I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of

7:58 – and
they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their

Saul. Acts
7:59 – And
they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, Lord Jesus, received my
spirit.” Acts
7:60 – Then
he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with
this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep. “I
sometimes wonder whether the comparatively slow progress toward peace and
justice in the world, and towards world evangelization, is due more than
anything to the prayerlessness of the people of God. When President Marcos was
toppled in 1986, Filipino Christians attributed his downfall ‘not to people
power but to prayer power.’”

John Stott “What
might happen if God’s people throughout the world learned to wait upon Him in
believing, persevering prayer?”

this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 1
Timothy 2:4 – who
desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. John
3:17 – For
God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world
through Him might be saved. 2
Peter 3:9 – The
Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is
longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should
come to repentance. 1
Timothy 2:5 – For
there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 1
Timothy 2:6 –
who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, 1
Timothy 2:7 – for
which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle– I am speaking the truth in
Christ and not lying – a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. 1
Timothy 2:8 –
Therefore I desire that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without
wrath and doubting; We pray for all men and those in authority – That we
might live in peace. (v.2) We pray for all men and those in authority – Because
it pleases God. (v. 3) We pray for all men – That they might be saved. (v.4)
